VIDEO: Appears That TRCC Will Be Allowed to Die Under Sunset Process

After five long years of fighting by Texas homeowners and consumer advocacy groups, it appears that the Texas Residential Construction Commission (TRCC) will be allowed to die under the Sunset Review process. Alex Winslow, the Executive Director of Texas Watch, was interviewed for this story. Winslow stated that now stakeholders in this issue will finally be able to get together and “build a process that will really help homeowners hold builders accountable and insure that homes are built to the highest standards.” The TRCC, which was created and controlled by the homebuilding industry, made many homeowners feel like they themselves, instead of the builders, “were being regulated.”
