State Farm Delaying Payment to 92-year-old Car Accident Victim

November 19th, 2009

92-year-old Rose Ramsey was on her way to church when the van she was in was hit by a driver who ran a red light. Her hip was shattered and the van was totaled. Now, the company that provided the home health care she needed after the accident is suing her, claiming that “she owes them thousands in past due home health care bills.” However, Ramsey believes that “State Farm is using a controversial Texas law to delay payment” which “ allows insurance companies to wait and see how much everything is going to cost before they pay up, leaving accident victims like Ramsey with a stack of unpaid bills and now a lawsuit.”
