State Criticizes Windstorm Insurer
Houston Chronicle—July 8th, 2010

The report details an audit conducted by the Texas Department of Insurance of TWIA’s operations from January 2006 to December 2008.
The association, a state-created insurer that sells wind coverage to coastal homeowners who can’t buy it elsewhere, has been the target of about 2,000 lawsuits over how it handled Hurricane Ike-related claims.
It has also been the subject of state investigations about allegedly deceptive claims-handling practices, something the association has denied.
