DEVELOPMENT & OPERATIONS COORDINATOR 

The Organization: Texas Watch, an established and respected Austin non-profit dedicated to consumer protection and civil justice, is seeking a Development & Operations Coordinator for full-time employment. The Position: The selected candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills and will have primary responsibility for the fundraising and administrative functions of the organization (and its sister non-profit, the Texas Watch Foundation, a 501(c)(3)). They will report directly to the Executive Director and will work with him on projects on an ongoing basis. The ideal candidate is a relationship-builder who is energized by connecting people to a mission they believe in. They are equally comfortable meeting with major donors, organizing fundraising events, writing compelling grant proposals, and managing the day-to-day administrative functions that keep an organization running smoothly. They are highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with a natural ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines without losing sight of the bigger picture. They understand that successful fundraising is built on strong relationships, consistent communication, and excellent stewardship. Familiarity with – or interest in – how laws are made in the legislative process and through our courts is a plus. This person is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working as part of a collaborative team. They bring high integrity, a positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, and the resilience to persevere through challenges. They are passionate about citizen engagement, enjoy hearing and sharing people's stories, and are motivated by the opportunity to make a meaningful impact. Most importantly, the ideal candidate is someone who takes ownership of their work, enjoys engaging with supporters and stakeholders, and is excited to help grow an organization dedicated to making a difference. This is a full-time position with health and retirement benefits. Salary is competitive, based upon experience and qualifications. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Planning in-person fundraising events 
  • Working to retain current donors, attract new donors, and regain past donors 
  • Managing donor database, including updating contact information and gathering potential donor information 
  • Writing grants 
  • Administrative work, including bookkeeping, file management, and coordinating office needs 
  • Talking with activists, tracking stories, and helping to develop citizen actions (such as petitions to lawmakers) 
  • Developing email communications through targeted email software 
  • Travel (2-3 times per month) 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Associate’s degree 
  • Coursework in accounting and/or experience with bookkeeping 
  • Proficiency with office-related software, including QuickBooks and Google Suite 
  • Sales, marketing, or fundraising experience 
  • Proven record of strong interpersonal skills 
  • Highly organized 
  • Ability to travel up to 10-20% of the time around the state 
  • Availability some nights of the week to attend in-person events 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree 
  • Non-profit or association experience 
  • Proficiency with donor management software (e.g. EveryAction) 
  • Proven record of high-dollar fundraising
